Westphalians shine beyond borders

"Westphalia on Tour" auction with good result

Münster: 19 Westphalian foals were for sale in a special auction of the Westphalian Stud Book.  "On Tour" was the marketing team to select these future hopes. 13 of the foals on offer changed hands at an average price of 8,462 Euros. The most desired foal was a filly by Vitalis. The chestnut was worth 17,500 Euros to her new owners.

The "Westfalen on Tour 2.0" auction was a success. The auction team of the Westfälisches Pferdestammbuch had selected foals from all over Germany and neighbouring countries for this auction. Westphalians are not only bred beyond the state borders. The young offspring are very popular all over the world which this eveninings bis showed once again. Whereas in the previous auctions the colts were usually in the lead in the fight for the highest price, today the fillies were particularly well paid for. The most expensive offer was a daughter of Vitalis/Rubinstern Noir (breeder and exhibitor: Brigitta Wego, Wuppertal). The expressive and high-quality chestnut mare was worth 17,500 Euros to her new owners. Vanilla W's dam, St.Pr.St. Rubina, already produced Quiana by Quaterstern, a participant in the 2019 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses.

The top prize among the show jumpers was also a filly. Once again, the impressive grey stallion Cornet Obolensky scored with his sire qualities. Cornet's Chica (breeder: Willy Blocken, Belgium; exhibitor: Dominique Wouters, Belgium) has an international pedigree. With the elite stallions Carthago and Voltaire in the pedigree, this is a successful mating for breeding and sport. Customers from Hungary invested 12,500 Euros in the dark bay. The most expensive colt in this collection also came from the show jumping foals. The Emerald v.d. Ruytershof/Crwontano Z-son Everglade PS (breeder and exhibitor: Peter Simons, Belgium) was the third auction candidate to break the 10,000 Euro mark. His sport-oriented pedigree in connection with his movements and his body posture make Everglade PS an appealing stallion prospect. For 10.500 Euro he changed into the possession of a Westphalian stallion breeder. This stallion owner also won the bid for Ragnar PS by Rhythm-K by Kattenheye/Ideal de La Loge (breeder and exhibitor: Peter Simons, Belgium) for 7,000 Euros.

Of the 19 foals offered, 13 were successfully sold to new owners this evening. Three foals cracked the 10,000 Euro mark. On average, customers had to invest 8,462 Euros in the Westphalians of the 2021 vintage. Customers from abroad were successful eight times. "With this pilot project of the "Westfalen On Tour" auction, we offered our more distant breeders a possibility to auction off their foals with little effort. We are very satisfied with the result, even though not all foals were able to achieve the desired prices," summarises Auction and Marketing Manager Thomas Münch.

The auction summer in Westphalia continues. Two online foal auctions are about to start. On July 12 and 19, one of the online auctions will close with the BidUp at 7.30 pm. On July 28 the first embryo auction will take place before the first live auction starts again on July 31. The first OnLive Foal Auction will take place in Münster-Handorf as part of the Westphalia Week.
